50th Anniversary Celebration Events

2024 has been a milestone year for The Hope Centre as we celebrated 50 years of Hope in the community of Welland. We hosted a series of events to bring our community together to honour our history and celebrate the remarkable impact The Hope Centre has made over the past five decades.

On July 24th we hosted a Client Appreciation Community Fun Day in the Hope Centre parking lot with food that was generously donated by local community partners, along with carnival games and activities for the entire family to enjoy.  Thanks to YourTV Niagara for capturing this event.

On September 26th we hosted our 50th Anniversary Celebration event at the Croatian National Home in Welland. We gathered together with hundreds of community supporters, past and present staff, volunteers and board members who have been a part of The Hope Centre’s journey to celebrate the legacy of The Hope Centre and the many lives it has impacted. Thanks to YourTV Niagara for capturing the special moments at the event.

Fifty years ago, concerned citizens and organizations within Welland saw that there was a need to bring people together to create solutions for the many social issues the community was facing. In the early years, The Hope Centre was based at All People’s Church was run by dedicated volunteers and offered basic food assistance, childcare, and housing advocacy.

Today, The Hope Centre continues to be a beacon of hope for our community’s most vulnerable, providing essential services to those in need. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a vital resource, offering a wide range of programs that make a difference in the lives of countless individuals throughout Welland.

As  the year comes to a close we are so grateful for the dedication of the many volunteers, staff, community partners and supporters that have shaped The Hope Centre to be a beacon of hope for our community’s most vulnerable.
